The ministry of BUMC extends beyond our walls into the local, national and international community. Service is a very important part of how we live out our faith. We believe that our mission to "Wash More Feet" compels us to serve those in need and to work for social justice. For the last three years, we have sponsored a "Don't Go to Church, Be the Church" Weekend in the Fall. On that weekend we have cancelled Sunday services to go out and be the church in our community through hands-on service projects and a Sunday evening worship celebration.

TO VIETNAM & BACK: Rev. Ron and Phuong Bui were in Vietnam in February delivering 408 bikes thanks to the generosity of our congregation and friends of BUMC. You can catch up on their amazing two week adventure on the God's Morning, Vietnam blog. We raised over $20,400 through our Christmas Eve offiering which was used to support the work of the Children of Vietnam Foundation and allow children in remote areas a chance to get to school.
100K HOMES CAMPAIGN
Volunteers from BUMC continue to work with Bethesda Cares their early morning census of long-term homeless individuals as part of the 100,000 Homes Campaign. Check out the Gazette article that tells you what they were up to. Our Welcome Home Ministry is part of this partnership that helps to place the most vulnerable of our unhoused neighbors into supportive housing.
A WHIRLWIND OF SERVING
Our Volunteers in Mission Team took their love and talents to Tuscaloosa, Alabama in October of 2011 helping residents rebuild their lives after the devastating tornadoes of that year. If you are interested in finding out more about future VIM service trips contact Craig Alexander.
