BUMC is working with Congregation Beth El to welcome and support an Afghan refugee family. Lutheran Social Services is sponsoring the family and will provide guidance for the family to obtain Food Stamps, utilize translators and obtain refugee services from the U.S. government.
Our immediate need is to get the family's apartment ready for them within the next few days. We still need many things! Please take a few minutes to peruse the SignUp Genius (see link below), and see how you, too, can be a part of welcoming the family!
SignUp Genius: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0a4aa9ad292-apartment1
Please read the instructions on the signup carefully. They include where to bring donations and where to mark down that you are bringing them. If you decide to purchase items online, you can have them shipped to BUMC (8300 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda, MD 20814). Otherwise, after signing up for the specific items here on this link, you can bring them to BUMC and leave them in the Narthex. Please follow the list carefully so we don't collect unwanted items.
Thank you for your generosity as together we work to welcome this family.
